When Booking a Costumed Character be sure the company owns their own costumes & hires only trained actors to portray the character. I get so many frantic calls from moms saying their booking was cancelled last minute due to company not even having the costume they requested or even an entertainer to cover the role. One particular company called "Party Characters for Kids" is notorious for ruining over 1000's of children's parties. Their reviews on Yelp & the better business bureau are 1 star. Your child's birthday, baptism or whatever the special event is supposed to be a celebration of life. A time where family and friends come together to enjoy the time together.       GURU OR GRUMPY OLD MAN One day my acting coach asked me out of the blue if I would play Cinderella at a kids party. I agreed. Not knowing how to talk to small children or how to do parties my journey began. My 1st gig I talked to the kids like little adults. I am a mother of 2 but my children were grown. It had been some time since I had been around small children. Next time around my agent asks if I would play Barney.
